Ukrainian SIM card with internet that works in the zone for free + airport transfers for free (may inform later) + one Geiger counter for the duration of your trip
Private/photo trips for 3-5days is our specialty. For us it’s the very best way to share our enthusiasm for the zone with you. These trips are for hardcore photographers, urban explorers and people who simply can’t live without Chernobyl anymore. We know where and when to take you for getting the best light for your great shots
it’s safe to go there now! Radiation exposure during one full day in the zone is equal to a 1 hour flight and 3000 times less than a CT scan!
Trip cost depends a lot on the number of people going on the tour (more people are going –the lower price you get).
Attention! The price includes: a full package of documents allowing visits to the exclusion zone, permission for photo/video shooting, transportation Kyiv-zone-Kyiv, English speaking guide, accommodation in the town of Chernobyl (the nights before and after the tour are not included in the tour cost as you stay in Kyiv), insurance, dining and maximum safety. However, some options, such as single rooms, interpreter etc. may increase the cost.
We meet you at the airport/train station and transfer to your hotel/hostel. On the morning of day 1 please meet your guide Nikolai Fomin ( https://www.facebook.com/Kolia.Fomin ) in front of your hotel/hostel at 07.50 a.m. He will check your passport details. Then departure from Kyiv. Our vehicles have AC, wi-fi on board, so you are always safe and in touch with the world even in the middle of nowhere. Our skilled drivers will make the journey safe and sound. You have an opportunity to watch a documentary and get very basic information about the zone. We make a stop at the last petrol station before The Zone, so you can get your morning coffee, buy water and snacks. It is the last civilization on our way. It takes around 2 hours to get to the main entrance of the zone –check point “Dytiatky”, where we pass passport control, sign radiation safety rules and the tour starts.
Check in to one of the hotels in Chernobyl town. We do our best for you to stay in a new hotel called “Desiatka”, but it may be fully booked on the days of the tour. In such a case, you will stay in a hostel “Polissia”, but have breakfast/dinner in “Desiatka”. Keep in mind, this is Chernobyl so don’t expect a 5 star hotel, but that’s not what the trip is about. (Attention! There is a 10 p.m.curfew, at which time the hotel is locked. You are also not allowed to walk around Chernobyl without your guide.) The hotel in Chernobyl is twin accommodation. If you require a single room please let us know in advance.
Single room supplement is 40$ extra.
On day 1-5 - exploring and taking great photographs. This trip is a unique opportunity to see the real Chernobyl Zone and understand its scale and diversity. It will be hard core trip through all the Chernobyl Zone.
Lunch and dinner is provided on day 1 full board on day 2-4 and breakfast and lunch on the last day at the Chernobyl canteens (vegetarian meal available upon request), Ukrainian cuisine, all products are delivered from Kyiv. Every time you leave 10km zone and 30km zone you have to pass radiation checks. In case of failure you start working as a guide there. (Kidding)
You will arrive back in Kyiv around 8 p.m. on the last day of your tour and will be dropped off at your hotel. We arrange an airport transfer as well. Trip cost depends a lot on how many people are going on the tour (more people are going –the lower price you get). To get an accurate price please contact us
Could hardly be any better.
Could hardly be any better. Nikolai is clever, creative, understanding, and very reliable. His English skills are way above average (would guess Cambridge level C1 or even higher), so even communicating pretty tricky details is easy with him. We have seen many awesome non-standard places and things in the zone with him, and I can therefore truly recommend him as guide - especially if you are a little more curious and adventurous than the average visitor. It will really pay off.
PS: as he knows a hell lot of photography himself he has an amazing understanding of perspective and light. Hence, whatever your preferences are, Nikolai will be able to guide you to the right spot at the right time to get whichever awesome shot you are after.
Nikolai was an amazing guide! I booked a 3 day tour with him in the zone and had an awesome time. We visited Pripyat as well as some of the outer farm villages. As a photographer he allowed plenty of time for me to get the shots! I plan on returning next year and I will definitely be using Gamma Travel again!
If you’ve been dreaming about a tour of Pripyat and you like to take pictures – you’ve come to the right place. We are offering Chernobyl photo tour that can last 3 to 5 days. Enough time for a detailed exploration of one of the most mysterious places on Earth.
Here are some ideas why you should book exactly this tour:
Good news and bad news. Bad first – there are places around that are very contaminated and dangerous. Good news – you are fine as long as you follow your guide and do not try to escape, sneak somewhere or break the law in some other way. Pripyat guided tour usually has recommended routes that are safe for visitors. If you’re not going to sit on the ground, eat Chornobyl’s mushrooms or swim in Pripyat River you will be okay.
On the borders of 10 and 30 km zone there are radiation control frames that you will need to pass each time you move between the areas or go back to Kyiv. This is to ensure that no radioactive particle are stuck to your clothes or shoes. After the tour you do not need to burn your clothes or throw them away.
There are rules here to follow during the tour and these rules will be clearly announced in the beginning of the trip. As a double safety measure, you’ll be handed a printed version of these rules and sign that you’ve understood it. It is in our best interest to make your trip not only interesting, but 100% safe.
You can check the whole itinerary and prices for the photo tour here. Pripyat tour cost includes all the charges, transport, paperwork cost, permit for the zone and for the shooting, staying at the hotel (in a twin room, extra 40 euros if you are alone and want a room for yourself), 3 meals per day, and a personal dosimeter. The only expenses that you might need would be snacks, souvenirs, tips, etc.
Absolutely no problem, we can do that on a private tour. There are enough interesting routes in the city to travel for even several days. Not only kindergartens and amusement parks are interesting for a visit. Have you even heard of the abandoned summer camp? Dentist department of the hospital? The morgue? Former football stadiums? You’ll be amazed of what can you see on a Pripyat photo tour that lasts for several days. Pick yours and let’s go.
The lowest price you can see at Gamma Travel is 89 euros – it’s a standard price for a one day tour in a group. The price, however, is higher for private and multiple day tours. All the prices in Gamma Travel include transportation cost, permits and other paperwork, lunch, staying in hotel and all meals on multiple day tours, etc. There’s no hidden commission or other additional payments.
The ghost-town is one of the closest settlements to the nuclear power plant. The distance between the closest micro district and the exploded reactor is only nearly 2 km. Other districts are slightly further. The famous Ferris wheel is approximately 3 km away.
As a result of the explosion lots of radioactive particles covered the whole town. People were evacuated, but the liquidators of the catastrophe stayed to live in some central buildings of the city. In 1997 everyone left and still no one lives there and won’t ever be able to. The city is completely abandoned.
It is absolutely up to you. As for the seasons there are no any restrictions. Even in February when it might be -20 C in Ukraine, we are still operating our tours (it’s not very comfortable though). The only day in the year when you cannot go to Chornobyl is the 26th of April. It’s easy to understand why – the accident happened on this day and now it’s a day of commemoration. Any other day during the year is available, unless there’s a quarantine situation like in spring 2020.
First of all, you need to book tickets to Ukraine. The cheapest options to Kyiv (KBP or IEV) are Ryanair (from Stansted), Wizzair (from Luton) and MAU (Ukrainian airlines, departure from Gatwick). When this is done, book a tour you are interested in on our website. We can offer you different options for the days you are available. Get your confirmation and get ready. For private 3-5 days tour we pick you up directly from your hotel or even from the airport if you want to (we do have such experience).
